How to be Humble

February 26, 2010

Christian unity is possible because Christian humility is possible.  Christ made it possible.  He showed us humility on the cross.  Only when we follow his example can we live true humility and experience true unity.

Stand Firm in the Fight

February 24, 2010

Chinese church leader Watchman Nee spent two decades in jail for preaching Christ.  Will you stand firm in the fight? Take courage from your fellow believers and those who have suffered before you.  And be confident that your endurance under suffering is a sign–of destruction for your opponents, but of salvation for you.

Kaleo Update

February 23, 2010

Dear Kaleo Family,

It’s a good week at Morrison Heights.  Dr. Greg preached a bang-up sermon on the prodigal son Sunday morning.  In nineteen words, sinners don’t have to clean up before we accept them because we didn’t have to before God accepted us.  We ran out of passport applications at the Missions kiosk because so many people wanted to go to Haiti.  We have several new small groups starting this week.  And we might get some snow tonight.  Just an all-around great week.

I hope you’re walking with the Lord this week and asking him what you can do to contribute to the task of taking the gospel to the ends of the earth.

God bless us as we work to be and make disciples!

Tim

Pray for:

  • Seeker small groups starting this month
  • Haiti
  • Matamoros, Mexico mission trip at Spring Break

Don’t forget:

  • Buckets of Hope for Haiti
For approximately $30 you can purchase the materials and assemble a Bucket of Hope. The food contained in a single bucket will feed a Haitian family for a week. The bucket will also contain the good news of Jesus Christ in French Creole.
  • Open Mic Night at Kaleo. (No Midweek Worship) March 10, 2010, 9:oo p.m.)
This is the time to bring your Bucket of Hope.  $50 prize to crowd the crowd favorite! Mississippi College has campus-wide worship that Wednesday night,  so we’re canceling midweek worship March 10.  Instead, we’re going to have a late-night open-mic session to collect Buckets of Hope for Haiti!  Anybody college age is welcome to participate. Email Tim if you would like to play your harmonica or recite the Gettysburg Address.  Sign-up is required.
  • Choir Tour this weekend!
Franklin County, here we come! Meet at the church at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010. Bring Bible and writing utensil. You will be responsible for 3 meals. Men, bring bed linens as well as bath towels and toiletries.
  • A Better Way to Keep up with Kaleo
If you have not already signed up for faster updates, easier to read information, and better control of your subscription, subscribe to the Kaleo blog today!  If you have not changed your subscription by the beginning of March, we’ll make the transition and you can just click the email confirmation when it comes to your inbox.

What is wisdom?

February 16, 2010

Wisdom is trusting in rather than leaning on. Earning trust takes time losing it takes the wind out of the sail. Wisdom is knowing Him intimately rather than understanding everything. if you trust in the Lord and know Him intimately your ways will  become straight paths with no detours or dead-ends.

Buckets of Hope for Haiti

February 15, 2010

You want to help the millions of suffering people in Haiti, but you’re not sure how. Here’s one way you can help Haiti: Buckets of Hope.

For approximately $30 anyone can purchase the materials and assemble a “Bucket of Hope.” The food contained in a single bucket will feed a Haitian family for a week. The bucket will also contain the good news of Jesus Christ in French Creole.

Instructions for Packing Your Bucket

Bring your Bucket of Hope to the church anytime between now and March 7, 2010. Or, if you would like to make a donation to cover the cost of packing a bucket, you can do so through Morrison Heights. All donations should be received by Febraury 28.

You can also help us pack buckets on March 3 at 9 p.m. in the College Building.

Learn more at www.namb.net/bucketsofhope. Or email questions to collegesec@morrisonheights.org.
