Baptism and Crawfish Boil - May 1, 2010

$5 for crawfish, corn, potatoes, and drinks

You’re invited to the Kaleo outdoor baptism and crawfish boil. The celebration is at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010.

Meet at the college and student building at 5:00.  Eat. Watch at least three guys get baptized in a pond (not the old drainage pond next to the church). Play games.

Are you interested in getting baptized? Let’s talk.  If you’re planning on being baptized, wear old shoes or sandals with straps in the back. Be sure your clothes will not be immodest when they’re wet (thick and dark material is best). We can probably find you a robe if you want one.

Why baptism?

Here’s the Baptist Faith and Message statement on baptism along with some scripture references on baptism and the Lord’s supper:

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord’s Supper.
